Hi, Thank you for taking my interview. I am Sania Idrees from Islamabad, I have done a bachelor’s in computer science from COMSATS Islamabad. After my studies, I was working as a software analyst for two years at QuipSol Technologies. I have got an offer letter from the University of Rostock for my Master’s studies and I’ll be joining Rostock for this September intake.
Why do you want to resume your studies:
As I said, I worked for two years in the industry after completing a bachelor’s degree to get expertise in software development. Some of our projects involved dealing with cyber systems. There, I came to know about the shortage and the importance of skilled cyber-security professionals. So I searched for universities related to this field and applied. I plan to learn these advanced topics and get a decent job in Pakistan after completing my studies in Germany.
Why this course:
Cyber-security professionals along with data scientists are very high demand for the last 4-5 years. In a country like Pakistan where the IT field is not fully matured yet, there is a significant shortage of skilled IT professionals, especially in cybersecurity. I studied information security and computer networking course during my bachelor’s and also had a chance to work on cyber-security during my job so I thought of advancing my skills by doing an MSc in the relevant domain. The course and modules are designed according to industry standards and I believe studying this course will enhance my skill set according to industry requirements.

I have a bachelor’s degree in computing science where I studied basic topics related to this field. As well all know that Germany’s education system is among the top education systems in the world. Secondly, Due to the large number of English-speaking people, it’s easy to interact with local people and learn about their culture. I also got offer letters from the University of Rostock and the University of Greifswald but Rostock has a good reputation in computer sciences and it is also better in terms of ranking (474 rankings). Secondly, Rostock offers advanced research in the second year which no other institution offers.
What is your future plan?
After this degree, I plan to come back and work in the Pakistani IT industry as a cyber-security professional. Because there is a huge shortage of skilled IT professionals here and I believe that I can get a very good job in Pakistan after my MSc from the UK.
How studying this course will help you in achieving your future goal?
This course will help me in getting in-depth knowledge and practical skills in cyber-security. This course also offers one research year where I will have a chance to work on a real-life research project. It will help me in developing a good range of skills to get a good job in Pakistan.
Why can you not pursue further study in Pakistan?
I have studied in Pakistan for the last 16 years and did my BS here. After working in the industry, I realized that soft skills are equally important as technical skills. So, I believe that I will develop good communication skills in English, time management skills, and also learn about different cultures by studying in the UK. What is your expected salary upon your return to your home country?
I think the salary for cybersecurity professionals is around 100k to 125k pkr per month at the start, which is enough to have a healthy lifestyle in Pakistan.

What have you been doing since then?
I was working as a software analyst at ABC Technologies Islamabad. My responsibilities were producing software documentation and also collecting and prioritizing software requirements.
What was your monthly salary?
My salary was 60k pkr per month.
How much will the course cost?
There is no tuition at the University of Rostock. Students pay only a semester fee once each semester.
Who is funding your studies?
My Father is financing my study and living expenses in Germany. He transferred the required amount to my account and gave me permission to use that money.
What is your financial sponsor’s income or his source of income?
My father is a businessman and his primary source of income is agricultural land and some properties given on rent.
His annual income varies from 2 million to 3 million.
How many people are dependent upon their income?
Including me, there are six people in total. But he already gave us money for our study and expenses and he has enough amount to support the rest of the family members.
Who all are earning members in your Family?
There are two earning members in our family my father and elder brother.
Where have the funds been in your account come from?
My father gifted the required money to my account. I also attached an affidavit from him that he gave us money to live and study in Germany.
How long have the funds been in your account?
It’s been a month since the funds have been in my account.
