Q1: Are these scholarships only for research students (PhD)?
No. Some are for research-based programs, but there are also fully funded scholarships for taught Master’s and postgraduate diplomas.
Q2: Do non-EU students pay extra fees?
Usually, yes. But many of these Irish government scholarships include contributions or waivers for non-EU tuition fees, so those extra charges may be covered.
Q3: Will I get funds for living expenses?
Yes. Fully funded packages often include a stipend sufficient for housing, food, and transport, though exact amounts depend on the scholarship.
Q4: Can I apply if I’m already studying in Ireland?
Sometimes yes, especially if you are in first year of your program. But many scholarships require starting new admission, so check the rules carefully.
Q5: How many scholarships are awarded each year?
It depends. For example, the GOI-IES program typically awards about 60 scholarships per year.
Q6: What if I don’t have a supervisor lined up (for PhD)?
For research scholarships, having a supervisor is often mandatory. So try to contact potential supervisors ahead of time, align your proposal to their research interests.
