Eligibility Criteria for Tsinghua University Schwarzman Scholarships

Applicants must meet the following requirements in addition to exhibiting the ability to anticipate, exceptional leadership qualities, and act on trends and changes in their setting, impeccable character, and excellent intellectual capability.

  • Undergraduate degree students must be on schedule to finish all degree requirements by August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year.
  • All undergraduate majors and fields are acceptable at Tsinghua University, there are no specific criteria for a particular field of study. However, it is crucial for applicants, to explain how being a Schwarzman Scholar will help them develop their leadership potential in their profession regardless of undergraduate major.
  • As of 1 August of the Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year (for the session of 2024–2025, as of 1 August 2024), students must be at least 18 but not yet 29 years old.
  • English Language Proficiency:
    • Applicants must have outstanding English language abilities because all instructions will be done in English.
    • Applicants must submit official English proficiency test scores with an application if the native language of applicants is not English.
    • For applicants who attended an undergraduate institution where English was the predominant language of instruction for at least two years of their academic program, this condition is waived.
    • For candidates who have studied English for two years or more at the Master’s degree level or higher, the requirement will also be removed.
      • Acceptable test options are Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT). Minimum score 100.
      • International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Minimum score 7.
      • Cambridge English: Advanced (C1) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (C2). Minimum score 185.

Tsinghua University in Chine offers a Fully funded Schwarzman Scholarship program for the academic year of 2023 for all international students. The benefits of the scholarship are below;
