The University of Freiburg will provide financial aid to cover the tuition fee expense or overall cost of education at the University of Freiburg.
Scholarship Eligibility
- All international applicants are eligible to apply for this Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg International Scholarship,
- Available Subjects: Candidates can undertake a degree program taught at the University of Freiburg.
Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
- The Students must be in their 4th semester of any degree study at the University of Freiburg.
- The Candidates must be in the examination phase.
- The applicants must be Ph.D. students who are about to finish their doctorate (maximum six months until submission).

- CV and letter of motivation
- Transcript of records
- Certificate of the Akademische Prüfstelle (APS) of the German Embassy
- Letter of acceptance from your supervisor
- School certificates
- University entrance examination certificate
- University degree (as well as an authenticated translation)
- Admission Requirements: Applicants need to submit all necessary academic records and documents required to apply.
- Language Requirement: The students must submit scores on the following language proficiency tests:
- DSH (result 2 or 3) or TestDaF – 4
- DSH 1 or TestDaF – 3
- Liberal Arts and Sciences: certified proof of English proficiency at the B2 level
- Proof of German language proficiency at the B2 level is required for an application for Studienkolleg.
Applications are possible for:
- Foreign students with foreign nationality who are enrolled at the University of Freiburg with the aim of obtaining a degree („degree-seeking students“)
- International doctoral students of the University of Freiburg
Applications are NOT possible for:
- Exchange students
- Students who (also) have German citizenship or have acquired their university entrance qualification in Germany
- Students who are abroad during the final phase of their studies.
