The Marshall Scholarships 2027
The Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission of the United Kingdom offers this fully funded Scholarship. American students are eligible to apply for this Scholarship. Approximately £38,000 per year is reserved for American students who will enter the first year in the Fall term in any undergraduate degree program.
This Scholarship also offers finance to young American students aiming to pursue a graduate degree in the UK. Up to Fifty Americans get a chance each year to study any of the graduate degree programs in any field at a UK university. The Marshall Scholarship strengthens the relationship between both cultures, governments, and their institutions. These scholarship achievers are wide-ranging, talented, and independent. Benefits of the Marshall Scholarship
- The following services are provided to those who are availing of Marshall Scholarships:
- Approximately £38,000 per annum is the Scholarship’s total value, varying according to the residential place and selected university. This comprises of:
- £1,110 per month reserved for living expenses and residence as a personal allowance.
- £1,362 for Scholars at Central London institutions);
- payment of tuition fees;
- fares to and from the United States;
- Demandable allocations totaling approximately £3,300 as a grant for;
- Books;
- Approved study travel;
- Daily traveling expenses with a reasonable distance between the place of residence to the area of study;
- Thesis preparation cost (if submitted for any examination);
- Property shipping to and from the United States
Eligible Candidates for The Marshall Scholarships 2027
The candidate qualifying the requirements below will be found suitable for availing of the Scholarship.
- English Language.
- American Nationality
- American candidate/ student at the time of application.
- The candidate (by the time they take up their Scholarship, i.e., September 2027) must hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States;
- The candidate has not studied for or holds a degree or degree-equivalent qualification from a British University or GCSE or A level qualifications undertaken in the UK.
- The candidates can avail themselves of either a one-year or two-year Marshall Scholarship. Any candidate found to be applying for both will automatically be disqualified.

- Master of Science in Development Studies (University of Oxford)
- Master of Science in Financial Economics (any university)
- BA/BSc Degrees
- Master of business administration (of any university)
- Master of Science in Global Health Science and Epidemiology
- Master of Science in International Health and Tropical Medicine
- Master of Science in Law and Finance (University of Oxford)
- MPP (Public Policy) (University of Oxford)
- Degrees leading to the medical, dental, veterinarian, and legal specialist credentials (these degrees typically take five years to complete)
- Degrees that include extended periods away from the University of the United Kingdom, like joint degrees with non-UK universities
- A supervised study that does not contribute to certification for a degree
- For degrees that are 12 months in length, Marshall Scholarship applicants must be enrolled for one year. The one-year Scholarship will not be funded for classes that run for ten months or longer, i.e., if the course finishes before August. For the span of the degree in months, please search the university websites carefully. This rule would not include any exceptions.
Courses Not Offered
The Marshall Scholarship is not available for the courses listed below.
- Professional 5-year degree programs in medicine, dentistry, veterinary, and law.
- Degrees are requiring extended periods away from the University or the UK and those degree programs are joined with other universities not in the UK.

- MSc/MFE Financial Economics (any university)
- PGDip/Certificates in any subject
- Second BA/BSc (undergraduate) Degrees
- Non-degree supervised research
- One-year Marshall Scholarship candidates must be registered for degrees that are 12 months in duration. The courses of 10 months or less than ten months duration ending before August will not be offered/ funded under a one-year Marshall Scholarship. Therefore, the applicants must look carefully at the university websites for the degree program duration in months. There are no exceptions to this regulation.
Deadline:
All applicants must complete and submit their applications, including letters of recommendation, no later than 5:00 pm in the time zone where your endorsing institution is located on 29th September 2026. The application will then be processed by your endorsing institution for submission. No changes will be able to be made to the application after this date.
Final submission of the application, including the three letters of recommendation and letter of endorsement, must be submitted online by the endorsing institution no later than 5:00 pm in the time zone where your endorsing institution is located on 1st October 2026.

Candidates are responsible for completing the online application form and submitting it through the system to their undergraduate institution. The institution will then ensure that the application is complete and make a decision whether they wish to endorse the application or not. If the Institution elects to endorse the application, they will add a letter of endorsement on behalf of the candidate and will then submit it through the system to the appropriate regional committee. Candidates are advised to contact their undergraduate institution as soon as possible if they are considering applying for a Marshall Scholarship.
